Contractor: The Whisker Group
Before Conditions
-
Clawfoot tub, boring floor tile and a window behind the tub.
-
Compact primary bathroom lacked storage and personality.
-
Window in the shower zone was a hazard.
Client Objectives
-
Select finishes that fit the classic craftsman style bungalow aesthetic of the home.
-
Replace window with a waterproof alternative as double shower curtains to block the window darken the room.
-
Switch to a standard tub/ shower that’s easier to navigate than the tall clawfoot.
Design Solutions
-
Classic palette of tans and blue tiles paired with oil rubbed bronze fixtures.
-
Custom glass block window in shower.
-
New tub/ shower is easier to navigate and glass doors allow light into the room.
-
Solved a variety of plumbing and structural issues hiding behind the walls.
The Details That Make It Work
-
New shelving over the toilet provides space for guests’ toiletries and a rotating art display.
-
The finishes blend seamlessly with the style of the adjacent rooms.

About Colleen
I live in Minneapolis with my landscape architect/urban designer husband, my volleyball & Taylor Swift loving daughter who believes she’s my design assistant, an independent Siamese, a feisty grey-striped kitten, and a menagerie of turkeys and other wild animals who visit our backyard for the free food. When I’m not designing, you’ll often find me cooking up a Paleo feast, cheering for my daughter's volleyball team, playing pickleball, or hiding in a corner with my nose in a book.
