What We’re Obsessed With

Favorites

Local Garden Centers

As we both tend our gardens this summer and enjoy getting re-connected with nature after the long winter, we’re falling in love all over again with the amazing local garden shops around the Twin Cities. Mother Earth Gardens and Tangletown Gardens are our go-tos for their robust native plant selections (especially helpful if you’re looking to create or add to your pollinator-friendly garden), and Gertens and Bachman’s for their extensive inventory. Knowledgeable and helpful staff at all four makes learning accessible for novice and expert gardener alike! What are your favorite local gardening spots?

Whimsical Kitchen Gadgets

We had a recent design brief from a client to add “harmless whimsy” to their home (we can’t wait to show you the project!) It’s had us thinking about the way whimsy can bring lightness to our lives, especially when life is so serious most of the time. Enter whimsical kitchen gadgets! A Dracula garlic press? Nessie tea strainer? Frog spoon rest? Yes, please! They’re not just for kiddos (though we bet they’ll probably love them too); these gadgets bring whimsical delight to the quotidian.

Good TV

With the flurry of activities and socializing summer brings, sometimes decompressing with a good show helps balance all the extra exertion, both physical and emotional. Shows we’re loving right now are The Pitt for its nuanced and empathetic character development, Off Campus for its sweet love story, and a re-watch of Mad Men for the swoon-worthy midcentury design.

Have you taken steps to prioritize your emotional well-being this summer?

As much as we love the long days and extra socializing summer brings, we’re having to remind ourselves to take care and slow down in the midst of it.

Stepping away from work. Taking a short trip. Walking in the garden. Napping with a pet.

All cues to our nervous system that we’re still safe.

Send your go-to tips or techniques our way. There’s a good chance we’ll fall in love with them too.
