Living Room, Primary Bedroom

With its generous layout and lakeside views, this Bass Lake home had all the right ingredients, but the interiors hadn’t caught up. Dark woodwork, heavy window treatments, and oversized furniture weighed down the space, masking its natural beauty and limiting its function. Our goal was to create a light, inviting living room and primary bedroom that would honor the home’s traditional roots while reflecting our clients’ more transitional style.

In the living room, we brightened the space by painting the brick fireplace and piano wall, enameling the built-in cabinetry, and lining the back of the shelves with grasscloth to add texture and draw the eye to their treasured collections. A new mantel and modern surround bring the hearth into harmony with the space’s softer, more refined feel. A palette of soft greens, blues, and creams complements the views outside, while patterned window treatments draw attention to the landscape without distraction. We increased flexible seating with a mix of swivel and accent chairs, and replaced the glass coffee table with materials that soften the reflected light from the lake.

In the primary bedroom, new furnishings, sized to suit the space, brought harmony to their updated bedframe and created a true retreat. Thoughtful updates like concealed storage in the nightstands, a comfortable reading chair, and improved bedside lighting added both style and everyday ease. From morning coffee to evening entertaining, this home now flows beautifully with warmth, intention, and effortless comfort.
