When temporary solutions outlive their welcome, they become a hindrance rather than a help to your life. That’s what we addressed in this home, where a COVID lockdown-era “fix” for a home office had taken over the dining room table, giving the homeowner no separation from work and home, and preventing the family from hosting the dinner gatherings they love.
We repurposed an under-used sunroom to create a dedicated home office, complete with pocket doors that shut at the end of the day, creating much-needed work/home separation. A sit-stand desk creates ergonomic support, and slim-framed étagères provide ample storage for the homeowner’s extensive library and art collection, and cuts a striking contrast against the existing dark blue wall.
In the newly-empancipated dining room, a marble-look, porcelain glass top dining table takes center stage. The table seamlessly extends to accommodate large gatherings, all while maintaining a sleek silhouette. Clean, modern lines in new and existing furniture create a cohesive design vocabulary, and allow the inherent warmth of the parquet flooring and abundant natural light to shine
We introduced custom cocktail ottomans on concealed casters that tuck under the new statement console easily, making an accessible spot for daily shoe changes. Now all three spaces connect seamlessly through a refined, contemporary aesthetic, while maintaining the definition the client’s current lives require.
