This multi-phase first-floor remodel was about evolution, not overhaul - taking a solid layout rooted in the past and bringing it forward with warmth, cohesion, and ease. Dark oak cabinetry, bold 1970s tile, and dated vinyl floors kept the home feeling heavy and disconnected. Our goal was to elevate the entire main level with a unified, warm modern aesthetic - one that felt relaxed, welcoming, and ready for this family’s next chapter.
We began by refining flow and function, especially in the kitchen and family room, where small but impactful layout issues were quietly undermining daily life. Relocating the ovens out of the main work zone opened up generous prep space, while eliminating the outdated kitchen desk made room for integrated file storage and a charging drawer designed for how the family lives now. Light grey upper cabinets, white quartz counters, and a stacked white tile backsplash keep the kitchen bright and cheerful, while three coordinated cabinetry finishes break up the scale and add visual rhythm. Easy-to-maintain flooring now runs from the entry through the family room, creating a seamless flow connecting the rooms.
The family room was reimagined as both a cozy retreat and an entertaining hub, with deep navy walls, layered textiles, and a custom bar zone complete with wine refrigeration and concealed storage to keep visual clutter at bay. Throughout the home, finishes were selected with teenagers and dogs in mind: durable, forgiving, and still undeniably beautiful. In the powder room, improved lighting and modern finishes create a welcoming moment for guests, while the living room, dining room, and sunroom were refreshed with updated wall colors, lighting, and custom window treatments to complete the story. The result is a home where last-minute gatherings feel effortless, family history is honored through playful details - like vintage metal chairs reupholstered in bold orange - and everyday life flows with comfort, confidence, and style.
