Designed for recent empty nesters, this primary bathroom renovation transforms an inefficient layout into a restorative retreat by reallocating space to support what matters most. Rather than layering new finishes onto an outdated plan, the 2026 design fundamentally reorganized the room, prioritizing comfort, accessibility, natural light, and long-term functionality.
The transformation began by absorbing the walk-in closet into the bathroom to create a generous walk-in shower and eliminating the oversized tub deck that blocked access to the bay windows. An extra-long freestanding tub preserves the views and allows unobstructed circulation around it, while the former shower footprint became a discreet toilet alcove. The reconfigured layout yielded four additional feet of vanity, giving both homeowners generous personal space at the double sinks. The new shower anchors the reconfigured plan. Dual showerheads, integrated ledges, a built-in bench, and a curbless entry enhance everyday usability. A carefully positioned window fills the space with natural light without compromising privacy. Tadelakt plaster replaces conventional tile, eliminating grout maintenance while allowing benches, ledges, and walls to read as one continuous surface without trim or tile transitions.
Warm oak cabinetry, softly textured porcelain flooring, alabaster sconces, wood mirrors, and custom Roman shades reinforce the home's connection to nature.
